This gallery traces the evolution of the earth’s crust formation and origin of the early community in Malaysia, particularly through the discovery of Paleolithic stone tools (200,000 years ago) until the discovery of artifacts of Hindu-Buddhist heritage in Bujang Valley during the Proto history era. Among the collections on display include various types of Neolithic pottery, jewelry items such as stone rings, shells earrings and beads that were used as trade items. One of the valuable artefacts on display is the Dong Son bell that was dated circa 150 CE.
Another interesting collection in the gallery includes a replica of the Perak Man, dated between 10,000 to 11,000 years ago which was found in Gunung Runtuh Cave in Lenggong, Perak. The human skeleton remains is the oldest and most complete skeleton discovered in Southeast Asia. In addition, various types of ancient burial practices are also highlighted such as funeral urns, wood coffin and grave stone slabs to emphasize on ritual or belief system, or the structure of society at the time.
