Bukit Bendera, Penang Railway Coach

 

This coach was put into service at Bukit Bendera, Pulau Pinang and the only one of its kind in South East Asia. Designed and built by a Swiss firm, it was put into service on 21 October 1923 and withdrawn from service in December 1977 when it was replaced with a modern and bigger coach. This coach can carry a maximum of 50 passengers. Its unladen weight is 7.5 tons and can carry up to 2.5 tons load. The Penang State Government donated this coach to the National Museum on 23 June 1978.
