Jinrickshaws were hand-drawn taxis of early Malay, commonly found in Malacca, Penang and Perak. It was believed that they originated from Japan. Jinrickshaw became a popular from of public transport and a primary source of income for the Chinese immigrant to Malaya in the 19th century.
