Pameran 100 Tahun Sinema Malaysia
-
Gallery 2, Department of Museums Malaysia

This exhibition revisits the history of Malaysian filming through various aspects, such as the introduction of film cameras to the Malay Peninsula in the early 1920s, the release of the first narrative film (silent and without voices), and the development of the exhibition and production industry.

This exhibition also introduces the artistes who were involved in shaping and colouring the world of Malaysian filming for 100 years. Malaysian films have played an important role in the process of forming our national culture. Since Xin Ke (1926) to Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan (2022), more than 1500 local films have been made, from the studio era to the emergence of the private and independent production companies of today.
